    What we do

How we work in your home

If we open up a wall or a board and find a problem nobody could have seen, we stop and show you, and you decide before we go on.

When we finish, the old fittings and offcuts leave with us and your home is as clean as we found it. Our electrical workmanship is covered for 12 months.

Room on the board for what comes next

A switchboard upgrade is the right time to think about what the house will need next: air conditioning, an EV charger, a granny flat, an induction cooktop. We plan the board and the supply for all of it, so nothing has to be done twice.

It works the other way too. A new air conditioner needs room on the board and a lockable isolator beside its outdoor unit, and we do the electrical and the air conditioning as one job.

    FAQ

    Questions people ask

    Does my switchboard need upgrading?

It is worth a look if it still has old ceramic fuses, if it has no safety switches, or if there is no room on it for something you want to add, such as air conditioning, an EV charger or a granny flat. Ceramic fuses are no longer allowed in new work, and a fuse protects the wiring, not the person; a safety switch is what protects people. We look at the board and tell you plainly whether it needs replacing or just some work.

What does a three phase upgrade involve?

Three phase is not available at every address, so Western Power checks yours first. If it is, we apply to them for the conversion as your electrical contractor, then do the work at the meter box and switchboard. Western Power's side runs on their timing and their fees, and we tell you both before you decide.

    What happens during a rewire?

We replace the old wiring circuit by circuit, so most of the house keeps its power while we work on one part of it. Every circuit we put in is on a safety switch and is tested before we switch it back on. We tell you before we start which rooms will be without power, and when.

Can you power a granny flat, shed or workshop?

Yes. We check your supply and switchboard can carry the extra load first. If they cannot, the answer may be a switchboard upgrade or three phase, and we tell you that, with the price, before you decide.

What safety switches and smoke alarms does my home need before I sell or rent it?

In WA the owner must have at least two safety switches covering the power and lighting circuits (one if the home has only one circuit) before the title transfers, before the owner enters into a tenancy agreement, or before the home is offered as a short stay. Smoke alarms must, as far as practicable, be working, in date and mains powered where mains was required. Only a licensed electrical contractor may connect or disconnect mains smoke alarms.

How long is your electrical work guaranteed?

Our electrical workmanship is covered for 12 months from the day the work is done. If it fails in that time, we come back and put it right at no charge. Anything we fit carries its maker's warranty too.
